Un enfoque funcional al análisis de los cambios en las comunidades de malezas de los sistemas agrícolas extensivos de la Región Pampeana

Resumen


El estudio del impacto de los cambios tecnológicos y la intensificación agrícola sobre las comunidades de malezas de la región pampeana ha tenido diferentes abordajes teóricos. Aproximaciones descriptivas han permitido la elaboración de inventarios de malezas y la identificación de cambios en las comunidades y su asociación con procesos tecnológicos. Asimismo, se ha aplicado la teoría de ensamblaje, basada en la identificación de restricciones de diferente origen (filtros) que regulan los cambios de las comunidades de malezas. Sin embargo, los enfoques previos no han permitido construir un marco teórico para explicar la dirección de los cambios de las comunidades de malezas ligados a futuros cambios tecnológicos y mejorar su manejo. El objetivo de este trabajo es presentar y promover el análisis de esos cambios a través de un enfoque funcional que permita aportar soluciones efectivas al complejo problema del manejo de malezas. El enfoque funcional fragmenta el ciclo de vida de la maleza, sujeto a cambios tecnológicos, en tres procesos demográficos que se consideran determinantes de su estructura y funcionamiento: (i) establecimiento; (ii) competencia y (iii) dispersión. Estos procesos actúan circularmente asociados como mecanismos que determinan la dirección de los cambios y el éxito o fracaso de cada especie en la comunidad. Se ejemplifica el enfoque funcional con el análisis del caso de gramón (Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers.) en la región pampeana.
